The benefits of membership in the Mid-Atlantic Section
are quite extensive, here are just a few:
Annual Meetings
The Mid-Atlantic Section provides their membership with
a great Annual Meeting each fall. Consider the quality
of the academic institutions that pertain to the section.
The abstracts are excellent and useful to anyone in
current practice. Each Annual Meeting is accredited,
providing you with CME credits.
Some highlights of the Annual Meeting are the Point-counterpoint
debates, State-of-the-art lectures and the famous uroradiology
case review.
Unlike the national Annual Meeting, we hold our sessions
in one location and keep afternoons free for leisure
time. There is an annual golf and tennis tournament,
reception and banquet for those who wish to attend.
Most meetings are held within our sectional boundaries
so that we may optimize attendance by those with either
time or budget constraints. Occasionally, we do venture
to resorts outside of the section’s boundaries
for those looking for new destinations.
Networking
It’s fun to see familiar faces when you attend
a meeting. These friendships can last a career. Networking
with other urologists provides an avenue for case discussion
and for referral. The contacts you make with exhibitors
can prove quite valuable to your practice.
Leadership
There are many committees of the Mid-Atlantic Section
that provide opportunity for your participation. Some
members choose to move on to national committees of
the AUA. The Executive Committee of the section provides
direct input into the selection of members of the AUA,
including its officers.
Research and Clinical Scholarships
The section provides awards for the annual Resident
Research Prize presentations in basic and clinical science.
